Two Moons Appaloosa Stud is the realization of the goals of Cobus Smit and his family. Set on 1000 hectares of land near Schweizer-Reneke, the stud is home to ten spectacular Appaloosas imported from the United States and 79 top South African mares, foals and youngstock selected for their temperament and conformance to Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) conformation standards.

Our goal is to develop Appaloosas between 15 and 17 hands that will combine the conformation standards and bloodline requirements of the ApHC with the size and ability necessary to compete at the top levels of  any equestrian sport in South Africa.

Two Moons is positioned to use some of the best Appaloosa bloodlines from the USA to enhance the South African gene pool and to produce horses that will be competitive at international level in appaloosa show and breeding.

The foundation of our breeding program is our two imported stallions - DREA Eagles Dandy and Storm Runner. Our new imported stallions, Financial Freedom, Lukes Like a Million and Hesa Cool Star, are being used extensively as well as our own bred colt, Two Moons Maverick.
